Austin Prock Leads the Pack Again at Thunder Valley Nationals

Bristol, Tennessee—June 7, 2025
On a weekend filled with unpredictable weather and changing track conditions, Austin Prock once again proved why he’s the current Funny Car points leader, securing the No. 1 qualifying spot at the 23rd NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals held at Bristol Dragway.

Coming into this event as the defending champion, Prock showed no signs of slowing down. He powered his Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS to two strong qualifying runs—3.931 and 3.958 seconds—with the second run hitting a top speed of 329.10 mph, the fastest of the entire event.

Mastering the Storm

Saturday’s qualifying sessions were anything but smooth. Rain delays and shifting temperatures kept the NHRA Safety Safari team working overtime. But amidst all the chaos, Prock and his team stayed calm and focused.

“We had all four seasons today,” Prock said, referring to the constantly changing weather. “It was tricky out there, but we came out on a mission and made two solid runs.”

His performance not only earned him the top qualifying position for the second straight year at Bristol, but it also marked his third No. 1 qualifier of the 2025 season and the 18th in his 28-race Funny Car career since stepping into the seat once held by three-time champion Robert Hight.

John Force Injury Update:

After suffering a traumatic brain injury in a fiery crash this June, NHRA icon John Force has been discharged from a neurological facility, marking a significant step forward in his recovery. Now in outpatient care, he’s making steady progress with assisted walking and therapy. Fans remain hopeful as the 75-year-old racing icon continues his remarkable journey toward full recovery.

John Force accident:

Legendary drag racer John Force was involved in a dramatic crash during an NHRA event, shocking fans worldwide. His car exploded after crossing the finish line, flipping violently before halting. Thankfully, Force survived and is in recovery. The racing community rallies around the icon, hopeful for his swift return.

Looking for Redemption:

While Prock dominated qualifying, he still has unfinished business. Last weekend, he suffered a disappointing first-round upset loss to Buddy Hull—the same driver he’ll face again in Sunday’s opening round.

“Hopefully we can do a little better than last weekend,” Prock said. “This time, the field is tighter, and the ladder is stacked. But we’ve got a great hot rod, and I’m proud of this Cornwell Tools team. We’re ready.”

Prock’s Bristol record adds to his confidence. Last year, he was the quickest in every round and beat J.R. Todd in the final to claim the trophy. Now, he’s aiming for back-to-back victories at one of NHRA’s most iconic tracks.

Beckman Returns with Confidence

Prock’s teammate at John Force Racing, Jack Beckman, also had a solid qualifying day. Driving the PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevy SS, Beckman posted a best run of 3.969 seconds, which placed him fourth overall.

It’s a strong comeback considering he’s now driving last year’s car—the same one in which he won two races during the 2024 Countdown to the Championship—after crashing his new car in Epping, New Hampshire, just a week ago.

“Our PEAK Chevy looked good,” Beckman said. “We only got three qualifying runs due to the weather, but we ended up No. 4. We’ve got Julie Nataas tomorrow—her first Nitro Funny Car race—so it’s going to be interesting.” He also said about the racing date of John Force, including “NHRA News John Force Racing.”

Beckman is currently sitting second in the Mission Foods driver standings, the same position he finished in last year. With momentum on his side, he’s aiming to take it one step further this season.

Brittany Force Battles Back

Including NHRA news john force racing. It wasn’t the smoothest qualifying session for Brittany Force, the two-time Top Fuel World Champion. After a dominating performance last week, where she collected her 18th career win and 300th round victory, she faced some challenges in Bristol.

Her Monster Energy dragster experienced traction problems and dropped a cylinder during qualifying. As a result, Force ended up in the No. 7 spot, setting up a first-round matchup against former European Top Fuel Champion Ida Zetterstrom.

“We struggled a bit during qualifying,” Force admitted. “It’s been a hot track all weekend, but now we’re focused on Sunday. We’re looking for a clean slate and four good runs.”

Sunday Showdown Awaits

With top contenders like Prock, Beckman, and Force in the mix, Sunday’s eliminations at Bristol Dragway are set to deliver high-stakes racing action. Fans can expect intense matchups, close races, and potentially another chapter of domination from Austin Prock.

Despite unpredictable conditions and strong competition, the John Force Racing team is coming into race day prepared, focused, and determined to leave Thunder Valley with more trophies and points in hand.

Stay tuned as NHRA’s best light up the track for what promises to be an unforgettable Sunday in Bristol.
